German luxury fashion house Philipp Plein is shifting into watches and jewellery through a licensing deal with WorldTime Watches & Jewelry in collaboration with Timex Group Luxury Division.
WorldTime will develop and manufacture the Philipp Plein collections with Timex helping with distribution.
Watches and jewellery will go on sale this summer at Philipp Plein boutiques, but wholesale distribution to jewellers will start next year.
Philipp Plein has a boutique on London’s Bond Street and concessions in Selfridges in London and Manchester.
Philipp Plein is known for his use of crystals, studs, multicolour platings, the military patterns and the innovative combination of precious and refined materials in iconic emblems such as the $kull and crossbones, all of which are expected to find their way into watches and jewellery styles.
The style is hard to pigeonhole, combining rock, street, baroque and luxury aesthetics.
“I am thrilled with the debut of these new lines of watches and jewellery, which enrich our collections with key elements of the men’s and women’s look. I am sure that the collaboration with WorldTime Watches & Jewelry will be an opportunity to push the boundaries of our luxurious and iconic vision even further,” Philipp Plein, founder & CEO of the maison says.
Paolo Marai, CEO of Timex Group Luxury Division adds: “We are particularly proud of this agreement and look forward to combining our experience in the world of watch and jewelry with PHILIPP PLEIN’s image, to make available to consumers around the world collections that express the unique brand’s aesthetics and its idea of contemporary luxury.”
