Timex collaborates with Nigel Cabourn on a watch inspired by 1950s Scunthorpe United Football Club

Mr Cabourn, who grew up in Scunthorpe, drew inspiration from referee watches used in the 1950s when he was a football-mad child.

British fashion designer Nigel Cabourn has collaborated with Timex for a second time to produced the Timex X Nigel Cabourn watch.

Mr Cabourn, who grew up in Scunthorpe, drew inspiration from referee watches used in the 1950s when he was a football-mad child.

A key design feature is the ¾ red color blocking of the watch dial to signify 45 minutes: half of a match playing time.

The 40mm steel watch comes in a vintage style cotton drill case that uses Scunthorpe United Football Club’s claret and blue kit colours and has a Nato strap of the same colours along with an interchangeable black version.

Nigel Cabourn has worked in the fashion industry for over forty years producing collections that are not influenced by trends but driven by inspirational stories of real people in history and vintage military, outdoor and work wear pieces. “I don’t class myself as a fashion designer as I don’t follow fashion,” he says. “Everything I design comes from either a moment in history, an inspirational person or a vintage garment.”

It goes on sale today for £139.
