Blancpain ladybird

Timepiece’s 60th birthday marked by 32 diamond watch

Watchmaker Blancpain is celebrating the 60th year of its Ladybird model, which was equipped with the smallest round movement on the market in 1956, with several new versions of the watch.

Blancpain’s new interpretations of the Ladybird feature a diamond and ruby heart charm.  The strap is handcrafted from ostrich leather, aiming to create a particularly refined aesthetic effect.

Its bezel is set with 32 diamonds. Holding four heart shaped rubies, the white mother of pearl dial has drop-shaped hands framed by a 21.50 mm diameter white gold case that houses a self-winding movement with a silicon balance spring.

The 50’s was a period when smaller sizes were popular, and Blancpain claimed it demonstrated amazing ingenuity in successfully miniaturising the components of a mechanical watch.
