Marine chronometer specialist Thomas Mercer unveiled a sleek new model at Salon QP.
The Legacy Black is a DLC-treated marine chronometer housed in within a gimbal suspension aimed at maritime use although Thomas Mercer chief executive officer Alessandro Quintavalle informed WatchPro.com at Salon QP that the company’s pieces find their way into as many homes as they do super yachts.
The Legacy Black marks the company’s third model in as many years since launching in 2012.
Quintavalle said: “Legacy Black is the quintessential expression of Thomas Mercer luxury, heritage effortlessly balanced with this audaciously contemporary direction. While timelessness and craftsmanship are inextricably rooted in this timekeeper, materials and finishing reaffirm our brand position at the very cutting edge of modern horology.”
The dials features Côtes de Genève stripes, details in black electroplating and DLC coating as well as Spring Detent escapement and Chain and Fusee drive, visible through apertures on the dial. The movement is finished in a striking combination of black and rhodium plating.
