Tennis ace Naomi Osaka designs minty fresh Aquaracer with TAG Heuer

Ms Osaka chose two shades of green for the watch’s dial and the strap, a subtle connection to the colour of most tennis balls and to nature, one of the athletes major passions.

Naomi Osaka will be hoping to reclaim her place as the world’s number one tennis player this year after slipping to number 13 ahead of the first major of 2022, the Australian Open that begins next week.

Regardless, she remains a brand ambassador for TAG Heuer and has put her name to the first watch of 2022 from the brand, an automatic Aquaracer that will go on sale exclusively in the United States, Japan and Australia.

Ms Osaka chose two shades of green for the watch’s dial and the strap, a subtle connection to the colour of most tennis balls and to nature, one of the athletes major passions.

“I am excited to continue my work with TAG Heuer not only because their timepieces are so renowned and classic but also because it is an honor to be able to create a timepiece with such an iconic brand with a rich history in watch making. I’m grateful to TAG Heuer for allowing me to fuel my passion for fashion and product design,” she says.

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Naomi Osaka Limited Edition uses a pale green for its wave-patterned dial and a darker version for two straps that both come with the watch.

There is a green rubber strap one made from recycled fishing nets.

It has a sporty and luxury feel thanks to diamond hour markers, and a strong link to Ms Osaka on the case back, which carries her official logo: a teddy bear holding a flower.
