News of TAG Heuer making a full family of Autavia sports watches was somewhat lost in 2019 when the brand was making so much noise celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Monaco chronographs.
But the Autavia is a big deal to the LVMH-owned watchmaker and its customers, and momentum is likely to build behind the collection in 2020.
Two bronze editions, shown to WatchPro for the first time today, will add to the commercial appeal of Autavia.
The material gives watches an almost instant rugged and vintage look as it ages with a patina unique to every watch.
“The Autavia in bronze is an ideal choice for explorers who want their watch to live with them and show off their unique and adventurous lifestyle,” TAG Heuer says.
The 42mm watches, housing TAG Heuer’s Calibre 5 movemens, come with fumé green or brown dials framed with bidirectional rotating ceramic bezels in black or brown.
The brown model is presented on a brown leather strap, while the green model features a khaki-coloured leather strap.
A tyre and propeller have been etched into the titanium caseback as a nod to the collection’s heritage and the Autavia’s origin as a 1960s automobile and aviation timekeeper.
I can’t believe I haven’t seen a word about their recall of this entire isograph collection recently. This is the first I’ve seen of them starting back up with a Caliber 5
