TAG Heuer’s big announcement at Baselworld will be a 2018 collection of Carrera watches.
55 years on from its creation, TAG Heuer has revamped its Carrera line with a new automatic movement, the Heuer 02 calibre.
The new movement allows for chronograph minutes and hours at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, as well as small seconds at the 6 and a date window.
The partially skeletonised 43mm watch comes in a steel case, ceramic, carbon or gold. It can be worn on rubber or leather straps, or ceramic or metal bracelets.
That gives TAG’s retailers 13 variations to sell to their customers.
The collection takes its name from the legendary week-long “Carrera Panamericana” road race held in Mexico during the 1950s, a competition revived in 1988 as an annual rally for pre-1955 collectors’ vehicles, and for which TAG Heuer is both partner and Official Timekeeper.
