After a year of limited editions in 2019 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its Monaco, TAG Heuer has added three models to its core collection of the legendary chronograph, all using the improved Calibre Heuer 02 automatic movement with its 80 hours of power reserve.
Arguably more exciting, particularly from a commercial standpoint, is the long overdue launch of a steel bracelet Monaco for the first time in 20 years for two of the new models.
Catherine Eberlé-Devaux, heritage director at TAG Heuer, says that bracelets are crucial to the Monaco story.
“The bracelet is particularly important for any wristwatch. Without a good bracelet, the timepiece lacks desirability. For the new Monaco timepieces, we have alluded to its brilliant past with a familiar design and colour while reinforcing that the collection is moving forward with innovative new technology,” she describes.
Hitting all the right notes is a black dial piece with white hours and minutes hands, red seconds and chronograph hands and white sub dials.
The 39mm polished and fine-brushed stainless-steel cased watch is offered on either a three row stainless steel bracelet or a black leather strap.
A blue sunray dial edition with red and white details, is also sold on the bracelet, but not on a leather strap.
Black models are available this month (October) and the blue version goes on sale in January.
Models with the steel bracelet will sell for £5,y00 while the leather strap version costs £5,250.
