Switzerland’s watchmakers have gone green with a slew of new timepieces adopting the evocative colour.
Green’s association with renewal, growth and sustainability could be behind a mass move into the hue, with TAG Heuer and Longines among the latest brands to follow the movement as the covid pandemic recedes.
Patek Philippe unveiled a new olive green Nautilus at Watches and Wonders, Audemars Piguet’s introduced a family of green Royal Oaks and Tudor gave a green dial to a new golden Black Bay.
Longines Spirit
Longines has chosen an olive green for a fresh model in its Spirit pilots’ watch line.
The model is a three-hander with date in either 40mm or 42mm sizes.
The green is complemented with beige Super-Luminova to give them a bit of a vintage vibe.
Their steel cases house COSC-certified L888.4 (ETA A20.L11) automatic movement.
They are worn on a choice of steel bracelet or beige leather strap.
TAG Heuer Carrera
TAG Heuer made its first bold move into green with a limited edition Monaco that sold out within hours of going on sale.
The business will be hoping to repeat that trick with a Carrera chronograph that adopts the same teal green sunray dial similar to the recent Monaco.
It is a limited edition of 500 pieces in a polished 39mm steel case; significantly larger than the 36mm Heuer Carrera ref. 2447 on which it is based.
Its movement has also been upgraded to the current TAG Heuer inhouse Heuer 02 automatic chronograph calibre.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Green is on sale from today for £5,500.
