TAG Heuer and Fragment Design, the streetwear label of legendary Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara have collaborated to make a 1970s motor racing-inspired Heuer 02 Chronograph.
The TAG Heuer x Fragment Design watch is a reinterpretation of TAG Heuer’s signature motor-racing-inspired C-case models from the 1960s and 1970s.
The 500-piece limited edition watch will be available to pre-order from www.tagheuer.com and in TAG Heuer boutiques, including franchises, before going on sale on July 27 for £5,050.
Mr Fujiwara has taken a minimalist approach to the watch, de-cluttering its black opaline dial that has black and white accents and black embossed sub-counters at 3 and 9 o’clock.
The black contrasts with white lettering and logos including FRAGMENT between 4 and 5 o’clock.
“Redesigning this TAG Heuer chronograph timepiece gave me the opportunity to use an existing legacy to create a new one. I gave the design a modern and exceptional flair with the red case back, which reflects one of the brand’s logo colors and also gives it a completely new and evolved character,” Mr Fujiwara describes.
The Heuer 02 movement of the 44mm stainless steel watch is visible through a red-tinted cystal case back along with the limited edition number from one to 500.
The Fujiwara design also includes an all-new brushed and polished five-row steel bracelet with a butterfly folding clasp.
