TAG Heuer adds elegant Carrera chronographs to its 160th anniversary collection

Watches are improved with the use of TAG Heuer’s manufacture Heuer 02 movement, refined with shorter lugs and a slimmer bracelet, and modernized with a choice of elegant dials.

TAG Heuer likens this year’s upgrading and refining of its Carrera collection to the way great performance cars are fine-tuned over decades without ever losing the essence that made them classics in the first place.

Today’s addition of four elegant chronographs to the company’s 160th anniversary Carrera line-up perfectly illustrates the point.

They are improved with the use of TAG Heuer’s manufacture Heuer 02 movement, refined with shorter lugs and a slimmer bracelet, and modernized with a choice of blue sunray, black, grey or silver dials with golden markers and a crystal case back exposing the movement.

They are like the original silver-dialed Heuer Carrer from 1963, but better, and offer the same functionality as the sporting chronograph Carerras launched earlier this year, just without the tachymetre bezel and with one subdial at 6 o’clock replaced with a more useful date.

Prices range from £4,395 to £4,550.

Adopting TAG Heuer’s Calibre Heuer 02 movement gives the watches serious horological chops. It is entirely Swiss-made in TAG Heuer’s Chevenez manufacture, uses 168 components, including a column wheel and a vertical clutch that improve accuracy, and has a power reserve of 80 hours.

“This is one of the most legitimate watches on the market,” said Rob Diver, UK managing director for TAG Heuer, at the collection’s London launch today.
