The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie Academy (HH Academy) has created a mobile phone app that guides complete novices through the basics of making a mechanical watch.
HH Academy is a Swiss institution that promotes fine watchmaking worldwide, through its four missions to inform, train, recognise and organise.
The mobile app introduces people to the basics of a watch in a structured course called Watch Essentials.
The mobile app, which is offered in English, is a valuable tool for watch retailers that need their team to have a solid grasp of watchmaking terminology.
“Whether you are a watchmaking professional, a lover of beautiful watches or interested in unravelling the mystery of a watch movement, the HH Academy is made for you,” the foundation describes.
The course includes modules such as terminology, external parts, operation, materials and introduction to complications.
Once each topic is completed, it unlocks the next one.
People who successfully pass the Watch Essentials Test can receive a corresponding diploma that will officially validate the watch knowledge.
