Studio Underd0g x Fratello limits collab to just 50 numbered pieces

Working in collaboration with Fratello, the Aubergine features a dégradé dial and a unique colour combination.

With the incorporation of the famous and much-loved eggplant emoji, Studio Underd0g has limited its latest launch to just 50 pieces.

Unlike the April Fools concept announced last year, Studio Underd0g jested that this watch will not feature a genuine slice of aubergine on the dial meaning there is no need to store the watch in your fridge this time round.

This project aims to raise funds towards testicular cancer research with all profits being donated.

Released yesterday evening, product page access will be shared to exclusively to the Fratello community via the Fratello newsletter.

Stock will then be made available for purchase at 3pm GMT on the 1st of April. Orders will be processed on a first come first serve basis and limited to 1 watch per order.

Ricard Benc, founder of the brand, explained: “We’ve used current-day machining techniques to emulate a mid-century vintage silhouette, while integrating a refreshingly modern dial.”

Adding: “The varied size of the sub-dials is offset by the branding and movement details, which allows the chronograph seconds hand to pass through uninterrupted. Idiosyncratic, yet balanced.”

Powered by the ST-1901 movement, it is a mechanically hand-winding and has an incredibly rich history; starting life as a Swiss Venus Cal.175 before the tooling and technical drawings were sold to the Chinese Airforce in the early 1960s.

To ensure all watches are running well within the expected tolerances, each watch is inspected in the UK prior to shipping. The process includes demagnetisation, accuracy / rate review (3 positions) and regulation wherever necessary.

A report card is then included with every watch.

Benc concluded: “It’s incredibly exciting to see a resurgence of British brands in the horological space, and we want to play our part in helping this sector grow. The Aubergine watches are assembled in Great Britain, and each watch comes on a handmade Epsom calfskin strap courtesy of The Strap Tailor.”

WATCHPRO Market is a three-day retail event, taking place at The Truman Brewery – East London’s revolutionary arts and media quarter, home to a hive of creative businesses as well as independent shops, galleries, markets bars and restaurants.

Even without WATCHPRO’s promotional activities, the venue will deliver a natural footfall of exciting new clientele. There will be two editions in 2022 – a Spring/Summer event 13-15 May and a Christmas show 2-4 December.
