Seiko craftsman awarded with special honour from Japanese government

Also known as the Medal with Yellow Ribbon, the award is given to individuals who become public role models through their professional activities.

Katsumi Nakata, a craftsman at Seiko, has been awarded the Japanese Medal of Honour.

Also known as the Medal with Yellow Ribbon, the award is given to individuals who become public role models through their professional activities.

Mr Nakata received the award for his contributions to the watchmaking industry since he joined the Seiko Epson Corporation in 1982.

Throughout his near 40 years of experience with Seiko, Mr Nakata has devoted most of his career to developing and assembling high-end watches.

Since 2003, he has worked in the Micro Artist Studio and is now responsible for assembling the Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8 Day Power Reserve and Credor Spring Drive Minute Repeater, for which he was also a member of the movement development team.
