Sebastian Hobbs set for Signet return in London

Hobbs will serve as interim managing director until June 30, when, as previously announced, he will leave the company.

Sebastian Hobbs is set to make a return to Signet after agreeing to become interim managing director of the firm’s UK operation.

He had served as president and chief commercial officer of Signer Jewelers for two years until he stepped down in April but is expected to return, according to an email from Hobbs obtained by JCK.

According to a report from JCK, Hobbs will serve in the role until June 30, when, as previously announced, he will leave the company.

The email went on to confirm that the recruitment process for his successor is under way.

Hobbs is replacing Emma Hayward, who has served as executive director of Signet’s U.K. business since 2017.

Hayward had replaced Hobbs when assuming the role two years ago to fill the gap for his move to the Akron, Ohio, headquarters to become president.

The latest move sees Signet eliminate the role of executive director of its UK division and implement the position of managing directors again.

JCK said the email described how the position will ‘have full accountability for our UK operations.’

The email continued: ‘All of [Hayward’s] director reports in buying and merchandising, quality assurance, e-commerce, marketing, people, store operations, and customer care will report to me. Please join me in thanking Emma for her dedicated service to our team members and customers, and her many contributions during more than a decade with our company.’
