Schedule slips for introduction of Bremont’s first made in Britain movement

2019 target date will not be met for either a planned inhouse movement or the opening of a new state of the art headquarters in Henley.

Bremont is taking care and time to ensure that its first inhouse movement, designed and made in Britain, is the start of a new phase of growth for the business.

2019 was supposed to be the year that the world saw the first Bremont manufacture movement, but the schedule has slipped, with 2020 now the most likely launch year.

Next year will also see the opening of a new headquarters that will bring all of Bremont’s three facilities in the UK under one roof for the first time.

Giles English, co-founder of Bremont, told WatchPro yesterday that they are now aiming to cut the ribbon in July, 2020.

“When we open next year it will transform the business. It will be a centre of excellence for the British watchmaking industry and will help Bremont by bringing everybody together from our three current locations,” he says.

When the inhouse movement launches, it will be used in premium lines for Bremont, Mr English confirms, and will not replace collections that use mainly Swiss components.

That will increase the depth of the Bremont product line from a new entry level price of £2595 for a range of watches produced in collaboration with Her Majesty’s Armed Forces this year up to the price point at which its manufacture movement pieces are introduced.

Few details of the Bremont movement have been disclosed. All Mr English would say yesterday at its annual London Townhouse gathering was that it is a unique architecture that can drive several different complications without the need to use modules from outside suppliers.
