Sarah Layton wins Georg Jensen VM award

Lancashire watch retailer Sarah Layton has won a Georg Jensen visual merchandising award and a trip to Denmark.

The store in Whalley took top prize in the Danish brand’s Joy of Selling competition, which launched for the first time last year and critiqued retailers’ Christmas displays.

Georg Jensen said it was thrilled with the huge response to the competition and selected Sarah Layton as the winner because of its strength across several categories, including visual merchandising concepts in the store windows, the use of point-of-sale and in-store merchandising featuring its Koppel watches.

Gill Layton-Hill, founder of Sarah Layton, runs the store with her two daughters Lauren and Leanne. The store was awarded a trip for two to Copenhagen worth £1,200, which will include a tour of the Georg Jensen manufactory, a visit to the brand’s flagship store and a tasting session of Danish cuisine.

Layton-Hill said: "We are very proud to have won the prize, which Leanne and Lauren will enjoy."

Sarah Layton tripled the size of its store in early 2012 to enable it to increase the number of brands it carries. The refit included the introduction of a large Georg Jensen shop-in-shop area.
