SalonQP to host high jewellery watch exhibition

Luxury watch exhibition SalonQP will host a uniquely curated exhibition of high jewellery watches when it returns to Chelsea’s Saatchi Gallery next month.

Gems of Time will celebrate ‘the heritage, glamour and craftsmanship’ of jewel-encrusted timepieces at the show which runs from November 6-8.

The collection, curated by editor of the Telegraph’s Telegraph Time Caragh McKay, will be hosted in a contemporary take on the jewellery box in a space designed by creative director Leila Latchin. The exhibition will also incorporate fine-jewellery drawings from fashion illustrator Nuno da Costa.

Pieces from Piaget, Cartier, De Beers and Backes & Strauss will feature prominently alongside. Showcase displays will focus on a unique set of Bulgari Serpenti watches which Elizabeth Taylor wore on the set of Cleopatra and the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 101, the world’s smallest mechanical movement since its creation in 1929,that has allowed for the creation of many examples of mechanical high-jewellery watches.

Gems of Time also marks the first time that women’s watches have been given their own exhibition within SalonQP.

James Gurney, founder and director of SalonQP, commented: “I’m particularly pleased to have Gems of Time as part of SalonQP as the exhibition covers one of the most exciting and dynamic areas of watchmaking, quite apart from offering a more feminine, and frankly glamorous, aspect to SalonQP.”
