Renowned businesswoman Rosa Monckton has joined the board of watch and jewellery retailer Aurum Holdings as a non-executive director.
Monckton joins the company behind Goldsmiths, Mappin & Webb, Watches of Switzerland and Watchshop with a history of driving change in both the public and private sector.
It was Monckton who, in 1986, re-established Tiffany in London and within two years had turned the company into the fastest growing jewellery brand in the UK. The ground-breaking marketing initiatives she introduced through Tiffany were credited with increasing the accessibility of the brand whilst maintaining the brand’s aura of style and exclusivity.
Brian Duffy, Aurum Group Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to have Rosa on board. She has a wealth of experience in the luxury watch and jewellery business and is widely admired throughout the industry. We’re also very excited about how she can help us further develop our charitable activities. Her achievements speak for themselves and she will greatly strengthen the world-class retailing talent on our board.”
Monckton is also known for her tireless charity work for disabled adults and children, having also presented programmes on the subject for the BBC.
Monckton was also one of Princess Diana’s closest friends and became a patron of the Diana Award in 1999 when it was established by the then Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown to support the outstanding achievements of inspirational young people.
Since 2009, Rosa has been a member of the Department of Health’s Special Educational Needs Pathfinder group. In 2014, she founded the Campaign for Learning Disabled, which helps people with learning disabilities.
