Rolex has created an underwater seascape as the theme for its 2019 Oscar ceremony green room.
The watchmaker is providing the backstage schmoozing room for Hollywood’s finest for the third year in a row.
Images unveiled today show a sumptuous lounge with art deco furniture where guests will be enter through a bronzed door shaped like a submarine hatch before supping cocktails surrounded by dramatic underwater photographs.
The theme, as well as linking to Rolex’s history of dive watches, draws attention to the company’s Perpetual Planet campaign that works to promote ocean exploration and protection.
“The green room theme is a celebration of the underwater world, one that Rolex is seeking to help protect through its Perpetual Planet commitment. Our aim is to expand our partnerships with individuals, institutions and organizations that promote exploration and the protection of the environment,” said Arnaud Boetsch, Rolex director of communication and image.
Rolex also has Rolex a longstanding association with the movie business. Brand testimonees in cinema are Kathryn Bigelow, James Cameron, Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Martin Scorsese whose films have collectively won 57 Academy Awards.
