Rolex space doubles at Watches of Switzerland’s London flagship

Group is also converting its Glasgow multibrand store into a Rolex boutique, joining an Omega store that just opened in the city centre.

Rolex seems unable to make enough of its most popular watches, but that isn’t stopping its retail partners devoting more and more space to the brand.

Just weeks after Prestons cut the ribbon on its fresh Rolex boutique in Leeds, Watches of Switzerland has started trading from a Rolex room that is double the size of its original space at London flagship 155 Regent Street.

The showroom attracts over 7.5 million visitors annually, the publicly-listed group says.

WOSG is also converting its multibrand showroom at the top of Buchanan Street in Glasgow to a monobrand Rolex boutique, although a plan to have that open ahead of Christmas has slipped to the spring of next year, CEO Brian Duffy said during an interview with The Scotsman.

Doubling the size of Rolex’s boutique at Watches of Switzerland’s Regent Street store is part of a wider redevelopment of its ground floor that includes new flooring, lighting and finishes designed to improve the ambience and luxury experience for customers.

“Yesterday’s Rolex boutique launch at 155 Regent Street was a great occasion and a fantastic experience for our clients, to end what has been our Centenary year of celebrations of our partnership with Rolex. “It showcased beautifully why our partnership has stood the test of time and why our customers come back to us again and again to guide them through their luxury watch purchases,” Mr Duffy says.

Conversion of its multibrand showroom into a Rolex monobrand in Glasgow may have been rescheduled, but the group does have one monobrand opened at 55 Buchanan Street: an Omega boutique opposite the entrance to the famous Argyle Arcade where the city’s strongest independents, Laings, Rox and Chisholm Hunter have flagship boutiques.

“We’re thrilled to announce the opening of our new Omega boutique in Glasgow.  This marks our strong partnership with Omega and continued commitment to the Watches of Switzerland Group Monobrand boutique strategy.  We look forward to welcoming existing and new customers to experience our new boutique,” says Craig Bolton, executive director at The Watches of Switzerland Group.
