Chiswick Auctions’ pre-Christmas watch sale will go ahead on December 3, with a Rolex Daytona taking the star lot position ahead of proceedings.
In a live online sales format, Chiswick Auctions explained how although this year may have prevented many plans, it is thrilled to be able to host the sale.
It went on to say how the auction should build on the success of auctions in Geneva which saw the world record set for the most expensive watch sold to an internet bidder.
As part of the document outlining a few of the highlight watches on offer, Chiswick Auctions detailed how a soar in demand for vintage watches as investment pieces are also strong indicators that the watch industry is on a high.
The first in the highlight lots is the Rolex Tiffany and Co sigma dial vintage cosmograph. Giving a synopsis of the offering, Chiswick said the watch “is a little bit like Lamborghinis parked in Knightsbridge; there is a lot of them around.”
However, it goes on to define that what makes this model an extremely rare example is the combination of the references 6265 and 6263, as well as the Reverse Panda sigma dial signed by Tiffany and Co.
The next is a ladies wristwatch from Chopard, designed to commemorate both the 50th anniversary of Centrepoint charity and their commitment to eradicating homelessness.
The series was presented at the foundation’s annual Gala Dinner on 13 November 2019, hosted by the actor James Nesbitt and in presence of HRH The Duke of Cambridge as a Patron of Centrepoint.
This edition could be purchased for a limited time only in the Maison’s boutiques and two models were kindly donated to the charity auction held during the gala.
Created and designed in Switzerland, this unique watch commemorates the remarkable effort and hard work of all volunteers at Centrepoint, including the invaluable support of HRH the Duke of Cambridge as Patron.
The final highlight is a unique stainless steel Rolex Daytona cosmograph, reference 116520 which indicates how this model was the first Daytona with a full in-house movement.
The provenance is as desirable as the reference number as it belonged to the Marquis Domenico Serra, an Italian nobleman of the renowned aristocratic family of the Serra of Genova.
He was one of the key figures and promoters in the relaunching of the IICCI (Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) from 2001 until his passing.
The auction will go live online at 3pm on December 3 while the catalogue is available to view online now.
