Rm 055 bubba watson boutique edition

Richard Mille creates another Bubba Watson watch

Creating a calibre capable of withstanding forces of up to 500 Gs was the challenge for Richard Mille horologists when they started making watches for Bubba Watson, one of the most powerful hitters in professional golf.

The manual winding caliber RMUL2 in grade 5 titanium with a PVD- and Titalyt treated baseplate and bridges was the solution, which has now been incorporated into the RM 055 Bubba Watson Boutique Edition.

The watch is Edition is available only at Richard Mille Boutiques in Geneva, Paris, London Mount Street, Harrods, Milan, Monaco, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and at the pop-up boutiques in Porto Cervo and the Polo Club Saint-Tropez. And only 50 pieces have been made for the whole world.

The RM 055 Bubba Watson Boutique Edition has an upper bezel created using shot-blasted titanium carbide. Titanium carbide (TiC), a titanium and carbon alloy with a hardness of 1450 Vickers, was first used by Richard Mille in the creation of the armoured case of the Tourbillon RM 053 Pablo Mac Donough. Its hardness enables it to withstand extremes and therefore ensures outstanding durability.

The caseband and caseback are made using shot-blasted titanium. The manufacturing process involves shot-blasting the grade 5 titanium case with miniscule glass beads at a low pressure to ensure an even finish and thus creating the ‘all grey’ effect. The caseback includes the limited edition number engraved at the 6 o’clock position.
