Sotheby’s has teamed up with watchmaker Ressence to raise money for Coronavirus research at Belgium’s KU Leuven University.
The idea is to invite the public to design their own version of Ressence’s latest watch, the Type 1 Slim.
Entries are open until May 12, and will be judged by Belgian designer and Ressence founder Benoît Mintiens, in consultation with the brand’s Swiss manufacturers, who will then bring the winning watch design to life.
The successful designer will have their name engraved on the case of the unique piece, which will be offered in Sotheby’s Hong Kong Important Watches auction on July 11 with proceeds from the sale supporting the Covid-19 Research Programme at KU Leuven University.
