Rare Rolex to fetch up to £50k at upcoming Fellows auction

The Rolex Oyster Cosmograph Daytona chronograph bracelet watch will go under the hammer on June 18.

A rare stainless steel Rolex Oyster Cosmograph Daytona chronograph bracelet watch is set to go under the hammer at Fellows Auctioneers.

Lot 316 at the June 18 auction, the Daytona has an estimate to go for £30,000 – £50,000.

With a reference 6265, introduced in 1971, the watch is one of the earlier 1972 models and comes with a black dial with baton hour markers, alongside silvered subsidiary recorder dials to three, six, and nine.

The reference 6265 has the iconic screw down pushers and a large winding crown and is fitted to a signed stainless steel Oyster bracelet with Oysterclasp.

Senior watch specialist at Fellows, Steven Yambo, commented: “This is another example of an incredible Rolex up for sale at Fellows. Rolex Daytona watches such as this are also incredibly sought-after, especially with this watch being one of the earlier models. I expect it to generate a lot of interest at auction as there is great interest in Daytona watches with collectors, especially the hand wound manual models.”

He added: “With Paul Newman’s own personal Daytona selling recently for a world record price for a wrist watch at auction, at $17.8 million, it shows just how valuable watches such as these can be.”

The Watch Sale is now available to view online and in person in Birmingham and London at select times between 11 and 18 June.
