A rare, 18th century pocket watch sold this week at Bonhams Watches and Wristwatches Sale for over three times its estimate.
A gold quarter repeating cylinder pair case pocket watch made in 1770 sold for £32,812.
Bonhams Knightsbridge Watch Department, Penny Morris, said: “This watch was one of only 25 examples made – of which even fewer have survived. Its rarity and the combination of two such power houses as Mudge and Moser make it a really exceptional piece.”
Another 18th century timepiece sold for £13,813 at the auction, also surpassing its top estimation of £8,000 becoming the second highest result of the day.
