Rado watches using the colour palette of Le Corbusier hit retail this month.
Swiss-born Le Corbusier is considered one of the most important architects and designers of modern times and is also widely known for his theory of colour that led to the development of an architectural colour palette.
It offers 63 shades that Le Corbusier created in two separate collections which he arranged into nine groups.
Creating stable ceramics in different colors is a technical challenge that Rado has been working on since 1986 and has enabled the Swatch Group brand to come up with nine limited edition watches this year, each representing one of the nine Le Corbusier colour groups.
Control of the Le Corbusier colour palette is so tight, and its use in high tech ceramics so complex, that Rado is the only watchmaker that can produce the Monobloc cases and bracelets of their type.
The quartz Rado True Thinline Les Couleurs Le Corbusier watches come in 39mm x 43.3mm ceramic cases with titanium casebacks.
There will be 999 numbered units in each colour priced at £1,750 on sale from September.
