Pinion releases app ahead of SalonQP opening

Independent British watch brand Pinion has released a mobile app for iOS devices, ahead of its launch at consumer watch show SalonQP, which opens its doors this evening.

The app features timekeeping from Pinion, compatible with mobile phones or tablets. The clock on the app is influenced by the design of the newly released Pinion Axis mechanical watch and provides the time, date and a power reserve that displays the battery life on the device.

An arrow on the outer bezel shows Greenwich Mean Time by default and this can be set as a second time zone in the settings panel of the app.

The app was designed and built entirely in-house at Pinion and is optimised to the highest retina displays. A statement from Pinion said: "The app represents our passion for watchmaking, whether mechanical or digital and is released to coincide with the launch of Pinion at SalonQP."

More functional updates will be added to the app in early 2013 and an Android version of the app, which acts as a live wallpaper will be available from the Google Play Store later in November 2013.

SalonQP opens this evening with a special reception and then runs until Saturday. It is taking place at the Saatchi Gallery in London.
