Bering is hoping that a sunny bank holiday weekend will have the tills ringing for its retail partners selling the latest Slim Solar collection for ladies.

The watches have a solar cell under the face that converts light of any kind into electrical energy and stores it in a rechargeable secondary battery so it never needs changging.

It has a power reserve so that, once fully charged, it runs for 6-12 months, even if stored in complete darkness during this time.

The watches have scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass, brushed stainless steel and the finest straps in mesh or calfskin.

Prices range from £179 to £199.
