Phillips auctions contemporary and vintage watches curated by Mr Porter and The Rake

121 watches of the New York sale will be sorted into style categories, including the basics of a man’s wardrobe such as business, evening, and casual wear, plus events in a man’s life, such as what to wear to the races or tennis.

What do you get if you cross an auctioneer, a men’s style magazine and a gentlemen’s ecommerce giant? The answer is a curated sale featuring 121 collectors’ watches that will go under the hammer in New York on November 5.

Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo, Mr Porter and The Rake have pulled the event together, which will see vintage and modern timepieces presented as fashion accessories to tailored clothing selected by stylists at The Rake magazine.

The watches of the sale will be sorted into 12 different style categories, including the basics of a man’s wardrobe such as business, evening, and casual wear, but also special events in a man’s life, such as what to wear to the races or tennis.
