Philip Wolkind, who has overseen sales and marketing for Seiko and Grand Seiko for the past year, has been elected to the board of Seiko UK Limited as part of a corporate reorganisation.
The promotion of Mr Wolkind will see him take responsibility for all sales across the organisation, including Lorus, Pulsar and Ted Baker watches. Mark Gladwin, who joined Seiko from Casio in March this year to head the division with the three brands, will report to Mr Wolkind.
David Edwards, the new managing director for Seiko UK, will assume responsibility for marketing from Mr Wolkind, and take charge of the company’s boutiques in Knightsbridge and the York Designer Outlet zone that he previously ran.
The changes at the top of Seiko UK come at a time when the business is positioning itself for a steady push upmarket with more elite models selling at higher price points.
A new boutique, which opened in London’s ultra-affluent Knightsbridge in 2017, is promoting Grand Seiko alongside high end Prospex sports watches and Presage mechanical dress watches nudging up to and beyond £1000 price tags.
