Paul Smith finds inspiration in everything for new watch collection

Famous for his eclectic aesthetic and eye for detail, Britain’s foremost designer has borrowed design influences from far and wide for his new watch collection – from vintage speedometers to 1950s TVs.

Paul Smith watches celebrate differing design styles while maintaining the splashes of colour and unexpected details that are the designer’s trademark.

Paul’s personality is felt across the collection, with watch designs inspired by objects from his office, artistic styles and a myriad of other influences. As Paul puts: ‘you can find inspiration in everything’.

Looking at the face of the new ‘Precision’ you won’t be surprised to learn that Paul is an avid collector of vintage speedometers. With distinctive 1950s, the ‘Atomic’ aims to capture the optimistic mood of Atomic Age design. Meanwhile, at the other end of the scale, the minimalist ‘Ma’ is named after the Japanese term for negative space.

Paul Smith emphasised their ‘you can find inspiration in everything’ design ethos at London Collections Men earlier this year, when Paul presented a recreation of his first shop filled with objects that have sparked his creative imagination.
