Patek Philippe unveils its first new watch of 2020

Watchmaker marks the completion of its latest production facility in Geneva with the launch of a limited edition Calatrava.

Patek Philippe has unveiled its first new watch of 2020, a limited edition Calatrava to commemorate the completion of its production building in Geneva.

Patek’s schedule was upended by the Covid-19 pandemic. Its production facilities were forced to close, Baselworld was postponed then cancelled, smaller regional launch events were contemplated then abandoned, the entire 2020 launch programme was punted into next year, and then it was announced there could be a limited number of models released through this year.

Today’s launch is therefore highly significant, and likely to have the world’s watch enthusiasts dreaming of what more there may be to come.

For now, we have a new Ref. 6007A-001 Calatrava in polished steel that will be made in a limited run of 1000 pieces.

The 40mm watch has crystal front and back, protecting self-winding caliber 324 S C movement and a grey-blue dial with white hands and markers.

The dial’s central feature is a chequered circle that looks like a blue and grey carbon inset.

Patek Philippe says pieces have been shipped to the UK and will be available to retailers and their customers soon priced at £21,710.
