Patek Philippe has brought the guessing game over what will replace its legendary Nautilus 5711/1A to an end with the unveiling of four new Nautilus references.
The direct descendant is the 5711/1A-014 with an olive-green dial, which retains all of the classic Gerald Genta-designed sportiness of the discontinued blue-dialed watch, although Patek aficionados will notice a subtle change to the way the 40mm case and bracelet are finished in contrasting satin and polished steel.
Its Calibre 26‑330 S C automatic movement is revealed through a sapphire crystal case back.
The Patek Philippe 5711/1A-014 is priced at £26,870.
Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1300A
Although Patek Philippe makes many 35mm Nautlius models, you are just as likely to see women wearing 40mm watches these days.
That may explain why there is also a gender-neutral olive green version of the 5711 (Ref. 5711/1300A) in stainless steel but with the dial framed with 32 baguette-cut diamonds adding up to around 3.6 carats.
This takes the price up to £72,860.
Patek Philippe Nautilus 7118/1450R
If that doesn’t feel like enough diamonds, the Nautilus 7118/1450R Haute Joaillerie might be the answer.
The 35.2 mm diameter rose gold watch dazzles with 2,553 brilliant-cut internally flawless Top Wesselton diamonds totalling 12.69 carats across the dial, bezel, case and bracelet.
The automatic, housing Patek Philippe’s Caliber 324 S, costs £282,340.
Patek Philippe Nautilus Travel Time Chronograph Reference 5990/1
When Patek Philippe moved into its new headquarters and manufacture in 2019, the company’s president Thierry Stern said his aim was not to make more watches, but to make rarer and more complicated timepieces.
The most complicated of the 2021 Nautilus line-up is the Travel Time Chronograph Reference 5990/1, which has a self-winding flyback chronograph, a dual time zone function and a date display.
Its 40.5mm rose gold case, housing a self-winding Caliber CH 28‑520 C FUS, is 50% taller than the 5711 at 12.53mm and complements Patek Philippe’s signature navy blue dial with gold hands and hour markers and white Superluminova.
It goes on sale for £81,970.
