Patek Philippe reopens its Bond Street boutique in London this morning following nine months of expansion and renovation.
The London Patek Philippe Salon has grown in size from 85 sq m to 420 sq m will now offer the largest dedicated watch presence on Bond Street with 21 display cases carrying the largest range of Patek Philippe watches in the UK, including grand complications and haute joaillerie models.
Thierry Stern, president of Patek Philippe, said: “The London Bond Street Salon was acquired in 1997 at the time of my father’s presidency; it is part of the historic and prestigious Patek Philippe addresses alongside the Rue du Rhône in Geneva and Place Vendôme in Paris. We have always wanted to expand and improve our presence on this iconic Street and are happy that patience has finally paid off with this unique opportunity.”
The Salon is split over two floors and designed by renowned French designer Reda Amalou, drawing inspiration from the Art Deco period whilst offering the space a contemporary interpretation through custom furnishings and lighting, specifically developed for Patek Philippe. Materials including leather, alabaster, sycamore and brass were chosen to form a subtle range of natural colours from light beige to dark bronze.
Ed Butland, Salon director, added: “After nine months of development and construction of this beautiful space we are delighted to open the doors to our discerning clientele and invite them to experience this very special environment.”
The Salon’s main feature is an impressive 2.6 sq m chandelier composed of alabaster cubes in various sizes, suspended from a bronze frame. Alabaster is also used for an assembly of panels, mounted on bronze frames, to form a six metre wall of soft stone and light.
Clients wishing for more discrete surroundings will be well-served by the Celestial room, home to a large wood-carved painting while the ground floor features a state-of-the-art customer service centre, manned by two full-time Patek Philippe trained watchmakers.
The space was first opened under the Patek Philippe name in 1984 before being acquired by Patek Philippe and renovated in 1997. It was last renovated in 2006. Patek Philippe acquired the former Watches of Switzerland space next door in 2014, allowing for the expansion.
The Salon will be open from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 18.00 and is closed on Sunday. The Salon is one of only three Patek Philippe fully owned retail showrooms together with Geneva and Paris.
