Xupes is gaining a reputation for unearthing top end pre-owned timepieces with provenance that more typically turn up at the big four auction houses.
Its latest coup is for a Patek Phillipe 175th Anniversary Watch previously owned by rock legend Eric Clapton.
The multi-scale chronograph 5975R-001, purchased by Slow Hand a year after the Patek Philippe’s 175th anniversary in 2014, was never made available for general sale.
It was never a production piece so the guitarist, one of the world’s best-known watch collectors, was invited to buy the watch.
The chronograph has three different scales: a tachymeter, telemeter and a pulsimeter on a cream dial in a 40mm 18ct gold case.
It is on sale for £85,000 complete with box, manuals, 175th anniversary medal and guarantee dated 22nd January 2015.
