Patek Philippe brings Grand Exhibition to London

Patek Philippe will be hosting a 12-day public exhibition in London next year designed to give visitors a comprehensive understanding of the 175-year-old brand.

The Patek Philippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition comes to London’s Saatchi Gallery on May 27th until June 7th to mark the close of the historic brand’s 175th anniversary celebrations.

The exhibition is designed to give not just watch aficionados an in-depth knowledge of the brand, its history, craftsmanship and products, but to also spread that message to the wider public. Watchmakers and craftsmen will be hard at work during the exhibition holding live demonstrations of the techniques used to produce Patek Philippe watches.

Patek Philippe will host a series of breakfasts, lunches and champagne receptions during the 12 days for a number of groups including retailers, who will be able to bring customers along for a chance to immerse themselves in the exhibition.

While the exhibition has visited Dubai and Germany in previous years, Patek Philippe UK managing director Mark Hearn said he was confident that the increased floor space offered at the Saatchi Gallery combined with London’s international stature will see increased visitor numbers.

He said: “We are very proud of hosting this magnificent event in London, a multi-cultural city and a hub for business and tourists who come to visit from all over the world. If we can inspire and help visitors to understand and appreciate watch-making, we will have achieved our objective.”

Open seven days a week with free admission, the exhibition is designed to be inclusive rather than exclusive. School trips will also be arranged in the hope of inspiring a new generation to take an interest in watchmaking and the British School of Watchmaking will be involved in the exhibition’s education programme.

While the core of the exhibition will be the same as previous years, new elements including a focus on multi-media presentation will be introduced for the London event. Patek’s 175th Anniversary watch collection, set to be revealed in October this year, will be on show as well as pieces created specifically for the exhibition.
