Parmigiani Fleurier picked up two first prices at last week’s Fondation du Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) awards.
The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Chronor won the Chronograph Category award and the Toric Hemispheres won the award for the Travel category.
The victories were reward for over two decades of hard work, according to Parmigiani’s founder Michel Parmigiani. “I could not be more proud that two of our watches have earned the prestigious Geneva distinction,” he said.
“This double award recognises Parmigiani’s 21 years of dedicated work and horological progress,” he added.
The Chronograph category winner, Parmgiani’s Tonda Chronor Anniversaire (pictured above), houses a hand-wound calibre PF361 with a split-seconds chronograph controlled by two column wheels and a large date, all on the same main plate. This movement is made entirely from rose gold, and oscillates at 36,000 vibrations/hour, or 5 Hertz. It bears Michel Parmigiani’s signature, engraved on the barrel bridge. The dial in Grand Feu enamel is the timepiece’s crowning glory.
The Toric Hemispheres Retrograde, winner of the Travel Time award, displays two time zones right down to the level of hours and minutes in both places, unlike most world timers that attempt only to show the hour of a second time zone.
To guarantee this double accuracy, the watch’s calibre PF317 is equipped with a module that controls the second time zone and can be indexed to the main movement or disengaged from it to allow independent adjustment.
The movement also has an instant retrograde calendar which is indicated by the third central hand.
