Oris calibre 13

Oris’ Centre of Excellence ramps up watch development

Oris has signalled its intention to “take back watchmaking” with the impending launch of a watch aimed squarely at the stylish businessman. The launch follows investment into its Centre of Excellence, which will serve as the nerve centre for future developments.

The Artelier Calibre 113 will be one of the flagship launches at this year’s Baselworld and ranks as the fourth in the company’s series of highly innovative, high-functioning watches powered by in-house developed movements.

Calibre 113 shares the same base architecture as Oris Calibres 110, 111 and 112, but features a novel business calendar, showing the day, date, week and month of the year.

Calibre 113 features a 10-day power reserve and a patented non-linear power reserve indicator. The addition of a business calendar means that Oris is introducing a watch with a unique combination of complications. It claims no other watch in the world brings these functions together.

The model was created at its newly founded Centre of Excellence, where the company’s most innovative watches and movements will be developed from now on.

Calibre 113 will have a 43mm multi-piece stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal glass and case back so the watch’s bold movement design can be seen.

Oris Chairman, Ulrich Herzog, said: “Oris has a long and proud watchmaking tradition. Calibre 113 is another big step for us, becoming Oris’s fourth fully in-house developed movement in as many years. Our Centre of Excellence is now firmly established as a home for our most talented watchmakers and a pillar on which we will continue to build our future as a mechanical watch company.’
