Omega has matched the 5-year warranty that Rolex has been offering since 2015.
The move by Rolex was widely credited with sparking a boom in demand, and was seen by retailers as a key selling point and an assurance that customer satisfaction could rise.
Breitling also offers a 5-year warranty, while Patek Philippe, TAG Heuer and Audemars Piguet sill have 2-year warranties.
Omega says its improved warranty offer is possible thanks to “significant progress within the company over the past several years, including the revolutionary arrival of Master Chronometer certification, which has established a new industry benchmark for precision, performance and magnetic resistance”.
The 5-year warranty has been introduced one year since Omega opened its latest industrial factory at its HQ site in Bienne, Switzerland.
The factory provides new testing and quality control facilities that examine many of the brand’s timepieces in greater detail than ever before.
Raynald Aeschlimann, president and CEO of OMEGA, says: “Our enduring commitment at OMEGA is to the satisfaction and confidence of our customers. All of our recent advancements, from pioneering technology to the state-of-the-art factory we opened one year ago, have enabled us to introduce this new 5-year warranty, proving that our standards are continually increasing and that our customers can have even more trust in the OMEGA watch they wear.”
The warranty took effect from the beginning of November and will also be applied to any Omega watch that has been bought on or after July 1.
