Nordgreen watch review: Pioneer White Dial

Nordgreen’s take on a chronograph, the Denmark-based brand has certainly hit the spot.

In tapping into its roots, the sophisticated Scandinavian piece on a brown genuine leather strap ensures the white dial stands out and offers that luxury feel craved for by the customer while remaining at an affordable and attainable price point.

Design Aesthetics:

Not only in aesthetic design, the feel of the overall piece and more specifically the weight of the dial emanates true quality while on the wrist.

Looking and feeling good on the wrist is one thing though, for the modern day consumer at this price point, an exciting experience goes a long way too in achieving the goals the customer expects.

Nordgreen has got this down to a tee. A simplistic yet suave and ethical design of the box with a subtle nod to the brand with a blue on blue logo shows can give the recipient and understated but important wow factor before the piece is even revealed.

The ribbon used to pull the boxes apart and reveal the watch follows the above and can only leave the one opening the box with delight as the Chronograph is seen in the flesh for the first time.

The Technicalities:

From a technical standpoint, the Japanese quartz movement keeps time as well as you would like while the 316L stainless steel 42mm wide case offers water resistance to 5 ATM, ensuring rain resistance.

The straps are interchangeable too. Having spent a week with the brown genuine leather, I’d be more than happy to see what the mesh, nylon, three-link or other colour leathers had to offer for an ever-changing seasonal wardrobe or outfit.

Commenting on the design, those behind the model at Nordgreen explain how “the minimalist, clean dial is synonymous with the sustainable environment that we strive to live in,” and I have to agree.

Adding: “Third hand stopwatch, the Chronograph second hand, indicated by the red tips, are representative of the red tips found on wind-turbines, reminding us of the bond between Nordgreen and the sustainable outlook of its homeland.”

The Pioneer won the Red Dot design award in 2020 and remains Nordgreen’s strongest model among its male customers.

The Gun Metal plating is the most popular and the 3-link bracelet a top is in strong competition with the brown leather strap.

In low stock due to its popularity, a number of models are though still available for £219 from Nordgreen’s online store.
