Nomos on winning streak with Goldene Unruh gongs

Nomos Glashütte has announced a double-award win, after its Tangomat Datum and Zurich Braungold models scooped prizes at this week’s 2013 Goldene Unruh awards.

The brand, known for its minimal, no-fuss style and unique marketing, took home first prize in the under €2,500 category for the Tangomat Datum, while its Zurich Braungold timepiece took the runner up spot in the sub-€5,000 category, with a TAG Heuer timepiece taking top spot.

The Datum received 4,890 votes, while the Braungold won just short of 4,000. The watches were voted for by readers of Focus and Uhrenmagazin magazines.

The Goldene Unruh – or golden balance wheel – awards were launched in 1998. A total of 426 mechanical watches from many big name brands were entered into the competition this year.

Uhrenmagazin‘s editor-in-chief Thomas Wanka, said: “I’ve added it up: it’s the seventh Golden Balance Wheel for Nomos Glashütte and the 18th time in all that Nomos has been on the podium since 2000. And it’s always been with the Tangente and Tangomat models, too. That’s what I call consistency.”

To date, Nomos watches have won more than 100 awards for design, watchmaking quality and value for money. Its Tangomat GMT Plus scooped the prize for product design at the iF design awards in December.
