Nomos Metro wins award for its green credentials

Nomos Glashütte has won more than 100 awards for its watches in the company’s relatively short history and has now been honoured for its sustainability.

The brand’s hugely successful Metro model, which has spawned three variations, won a Green Product Award in Berlin for high-quality design, technical innovation, and sustainability.

The timepiece, designed by Mark Braun, won over the jury with its climate-friendly production, innovative technical features, and, as one judge put it, “example-setting durability.”

The Glashütte watch manufacture was also certified ‘Ecoprofit business’ in 2013, and produces up to 95 percent of every caliber on site.

Judith Borowski, head of branding and design at Nomos, said: “We always try to work in a way that ensures fine watches for today, and a better future for tomorrow. We are simply overjoyed with this award!”

The Green Product Award celebrates products that unite high-quality design with technical innovation and sustainable production processes. Over 400 entries from over 21 countries competed in 2015.
