NOMOS Glashütte, which has a long-standing partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), is marking the charity’s 50th anniversary with the launch of a limited edition Tangente 38.
Médecins Sans Frontières was founded in Paris in 1971 by a group of thirteen doctors and journalists with a mission to provide healthcare during a civil war in Lebanon.
Over the past 50 years it has expanded to provide services in over 70 countries where more than 65,000 individuals assist people caught in crises.
They are doctors, nurses, logistics experts, administrators, epidemiologists, laboratory technicians, mental health professionals, and others whose work is guided by humanitarian principles and medical ethics.
NOMOS has been making watches supporting Doctors Without Borders for the past ten years.
To date, the German watchmaker has made produced 10,000 watches and 14 different models for humanitarian aid, all identifiable by the number twelve on the dial being picked out in red.
For each watch, between €100 and €250 has been donated to the organisation.
For 2021, NOMOS has made a Tangente 38 special 50th anniversary edition for Médecins Sans Frontières, limited to 2,021 units worldwide.
For each watch, €100 goes to the charity.
Christian Katzer, executive director of Médecins Sans Frontières Germany, says: “Each watch helps us provide life-saving aid — in places where there is none. Help which, in the face of emergencies exacerbated in many countries by the pandemic, is needed more than ever.”
