Tangente 33 for msf

Nomos Glashütte lends support to MSF

Nomos Glashütte is launching a limited edition of classic mechanical watches in support of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and the charity’s global relief work.

The German brand first introduced a campaign to support Doctors Without Borders in Germany in March 2012 and, at that time, produced an initial batch of 2,000 watches.

Continuing its support for the charity, this time Nomos Glashütte is, from June, introducing special models of the Nomos Tangente and Tangente 33 to the UK, with £100 from the sale of each watch going to the MSF.

Talking about the initiative, Nomos Glashütte general manager Uwe Ahrendt said: "We’ll be delighted if a large number of watch enthusiasts opt for the best of both worlds – to help and, at the same time, enjoy an excellent timpiece. Every look at your watch will also remind you of the people around the world in need of help and who might just get it, thanks to you."

The hand-wound timepieces feature a red 12, the words "Doctors Without Borders" on the white silver-plated dial and an engraving on the back that refers to the international medical humanitarian organisation. Additionally, rather than having the Tangente’s usual tempered blue hands, these special models have black oxidised hands. The Nomos Alpha movement can be seen working through the sapphire crystal glass back.

The watch brand is making 1,000 of each special model – the Nomos classic Tangente- in either 33mm or 35mm diameter. The charity will receive £100 from the sale of each watch. Consumers will not be asked to pay anything extra because both Nomos Glashütte and the retailers will be waiving a share of their margin.
