No mention of making hotels cheaper as Baselworld launches e-concierge service

Concierge service created in association with the Basel Hotel Association means flights, hotels and experiences can be booked together.

Baselworld receives more complaints about the cost and quality of accommodation and hospitality during the show than on any other topic.

Neither of these problems appear to have been addressed — an impossible ask in a city with so few 4-star or better hotel rooms — but the organiser does say it can make booking trips to the exhibition easier and quicker.

Michel Loris-Melikoff, managing director of Baselworld have reached a strategic agreement with the Basler Hotelier-Verein (Basel Hotel Association) that will allow Baselworld to create and implement an e-concierge service.

The announcement makes no mention of capping the cost of hotel rooms during the Baselworld week, an initiative it attempted this year with mixed results. Nor does it talk about preventing hotels from forcing visitors to book for the entire duration of the show.

What all attendees can expect are excellent service and time savings, a message from the organiser states.
