Industry insiders in Korea suggest Samsung Electronics’ next smart watch will have a round dial and other more traditional design cues such as a rotating bezel.
A patent drawing released by SamMobile, a closely watched blog about Samsung news shows a circular smart watch with a display that divides up into different segments for different functions.
Work on the next generation of watches has been carried out under the code name of Orbis, another hint that a circular design is being considered.
The new watch is expected to be releavealed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the beginning of next month.
“Samsung’s new smart watch will look more like a traditional wristwatch to appeal to a wider group of customers,” an industry source who declined to be named told the Korea Herald newspaper.
