Tikker watch

New watch counts down to death

Swedish inventor Fredrik Colting has invented a watch that counts down to the wearer’s estimated death date, called the Tikker.

Dubbed "the happiness watch" by Colting, the Tikker was created to inspire people to make the most of the time they have. The wearer’s projected lifespan is determined via a health questionnaire that features queries about smoking, drinking and exercise.

Speaking with the press about the watch, Colting said: "While death is non-negotiable, life isn’t. All we have to do is learn how to cherish the time and the life that we have been given; seize the day and follow our hearts."

The Tikker will be offered in black or white and has a dark face with a digital display, the top of which shows years, months and days, while an hours, minutes and seconds countdown is visible below. Local time is also displayed on the watch.

Currently, Colting is raising money via Kickstarter to support the release of the watch, which will retail for £36 and is scheduled to be shipped in April 2014.
