Mühle-Glashütte describes the M 29 Classic Kleine Sekunde as the culmination of the experience of five generations of a precision engineering within the family.
The M 29 Classic Kleine Sekunde expands on the ‘dial indicator gauge’ family first introduced by Mühle-Glashütte in 2013 that itself was based on a gauge produced to be accurate up to 100th of a millimetre with a subdial for measuring different scales by R. Mühle & Sohn between 1921 and 1945.
The watch draws inspiration from this historical design and translates it into the language of nautical instrumentation that the modern day Mühle-Glashütte company was founded upon in 1994.
Precision and legibility are at the heart of the M 29 Classic Kleine Sekunde with a seconds subdial, date window and black scale and fine, dark hands against a cream-coloured dial while red hour markers serve as orientation points. Hour markers are assigned hour numerals as well as minute numerals, at five minute intervals, on the chapter ring.
The watch has a 42.4mm case, water resistant to 10 bar, with exhibition caseback and secured with a brown leather strap. Inside is an automatic movement with 38 hour power reserve and patented, shockproof woodpecker neck regulation.
Mühle-Glashütte might only have been around since 1994 as a company but the family behind the watches has been around much longer and played a major part in making the German town of Glashütte the centre of German watch-making.
Robert Mühle founded his tool-making company in 1869 supplying the Glashütte watch company and watch-making school with high precision tools and measuring instruments using metric measurements, accurate to 1,000th of a millimetre.
