Motorbike gang’s £300,000 watch raid on hotel

Masked thieves made off with watches worth £300,000 in a daring swoop on a five star Knightsbridge hotel just days after a £500,000 armed raid in London’s West End.

Although detectives within the Metropolitan Police are not linking the two raids it is the second high value smash and grab raid to target watches in the centre of London in four days.

The gang of four wearing helmets and black clothing rode up to the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel, on Cadogan Place, on high powered motorbikes and rushed past staff shortly after midnight on Monday.
They targeted display cases in the lobby, smashing them open using a hatchet and a hammer and emptying them of luxury watches before making off on the waiting bikes.

No one was injured during the incident.

The same hotel was targeted by thieves on mopeds five years ago although they were stopped by security.

The robbery is being investigated by officers from Kensington and Chelsea borough.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
